Photography vs. Digital Art
Occasionally I find that one of my photographs seems to demand wild and intricate manipulation, resulting in a work that differs greatly from the original image.
Is this fun? Yes! Is it reality? Certainly not.
With the introduction of complex photo editing software like Photoshop, Lightroom, Luminar and many others, images can be transformed in many ways to wildly different versions.
It has been my approach so far in photography to edit my photos only so much as to approximate the feelings I had when shooting the photo. My experience in shooting the beauty of landscapes is accompanied by wonder, awe and a deep reverence for the natural world. I try to convey those feelings with careful adjustments in the editing software.
The photos below show a couple of images that I am first to admit are more of what should be called “digital art” vs. photography.
